Most of the time when we read or speak about substance abuse and its effects on people and the economy, the topic is usually a negative one about how these drugs are killing our youth and affecting our society as a whole. But I want to share a story with you about one of our recent patients here at House of Freedom who has experienced tremendous success thus far in his recovery.
For obvious reasons we will not say his name or provide any specifics that would identify him but we will tell his story anonymously.

This young man came into our treatment having experienced and as a result addicted to several drugs. Among these were Zanax, Alcohol, and Cocaine being his primary drug of choice. When he was 12 years old, he was diagnosed with kidney stones, which were creating a huge amount of pain and as a result his parents took him to the doctor. The doctor at that time after seeing what was going on prescribed this 12-year-old boy a painkiller called Percocet, which is highly addictive. Then after several months the doctor prescribed him Demerol, another painkiller that is a highly addictive drug.

As you can see, this young kid had already experienced with these prescribed medications, which later resulted on what was a bad addiction that almost cost him his life. Not only did he become addicted to these drugs, he also gained weight, lost his girlfriend, and was kicked out of college.
His parents desperate to save his life found House of Freedom in which their son was admitted to in order to help him overcome his addiction problems. Once he started his treatment the patient was able to stop the use of medications within a month exchanging them for natural supplements, he lost 40 pounds in 90 days, and is doing better than ever.
